WARNING ISSUED FOR CHIN STRAPS ON HELMETS

The Snell Memorial Foundation, which issues voluntary standards for motorcycle and other types of helmets, warned recently that use of Velcro on motorcycle chin straps could cause serious or fatal injuries if the rider is in an accident. Helmet wearers might fail to properly thread the chin strap through the "D" ring closure or buckle.
