PREFORMED PERMANENT TAPES ON LINE FOR PERFORMANCE TRIALS
Arrangements are underway to establish a British Standard Specification for prefabricated road marking tapes, which would allow them to be classified as permanent markings. This article examines the three main reasons for the lack of popularity of prefabricated markings, including initial installation cost, rate of application, and concern over adhesion to the road surface. Their advantages are also discussed and it is concluded that prefabricated tapes provide a longlasting white or yellow road marking of high conspicuity highly resistant to skidding.
