CAPACITY PLATE EFFECTIVENESS: PLEASURE BOATS

A literature search was conducted to determine the effectiveness of caution and warning plates in general. The purpose was to find out if people tend to heed the advice given on these plates or not, and in general what is the accepted criteria for a good caution, or in this case, capacity plate. The literature search uncovered no relevant data on whether people tended to abide by caution and warning labels, but did uncover information concerning the specific properties of a good label. Therefore, the majority of the report summarizes the consensus of the literature on the location, size, content, contrast ratio of type face to label and label to background, color, type face, weathering, characteristics, and aesthetic consideration of capacity labels.
