MICROCOMPUTERS IN TRANSPORT ENGINEERING
MICROCOMPUTADORES EN INGENIERA DE TRANSPORTE
The new generation of microcomputers offers an excellent chance to develop a more attractive, efficient and humane engineering practice. This paper discusses a range of applications where microcomputers could be advantageous, on the basis of transport engineering examples; programs already available for a series of important applications are presented and the need to adapt them to fit the conditions prevailing in different countries is discussed. Finally, some ideas related to the future of microcomputing are sketched and suggestions are made about its exploitation by transport engineers in Chile. (Author/TRRL)
