GM, CALIFORNIA EYE DOUBLING OF WORLD METHANOL VEHICLES
The California Energy Commission (CEC) and General Motors (GM) are jointly funding a demonstration program which should improve air quality in California. GM is providing 2,220 methanol fueled passenger cars, as well as special service training and support for the methanol vehicles. GM sees the program as an opportunity to study how methanol affects air quality and to observe customer reactions to the fuel. Component designs will be assessed to determine the best materials and fuel control systems for neat methanol and methanol/gasoline blends.
