VANCOUVER'S FLOATING CONCRETE HELIPORT
The design and construction are described of the world's first styrofoam-filled, cellular concrete, floating heliport. The dimensions of the heliport were dictated by the fact that three landing pads had to be operated simultaneously. The heliport was to be constructed in individual pontoons in the drydock. Particular care had to be exercised to insure that joining procedures and details for connecting pontoons are correct, and as simple as possible. The advantages of the floating structure are listed.
