BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO SWITZERLAND'S MASS TRANSIT OPERATIONS

The Ecological Pass, Switzerland's new low cost, fully transferable, mass transit ticket is given high marks for revitalizing the nation's mass transit operations. For each pass sold, mass transit operators receive a monthly subsidy. In contrast, while ridership among those in German speaking areas has increased substantially only a minimal increase has been evident in French speaking areas.
