LUBRICANT CUTS SWEEPER DOWNTIME
Toledo, Ohio, has 21 street sweepers. Problems have been experienced in the past with one particular area of sweeper maintenance--conveyer belt and main broom bearing lubrication. The lubricant that was used initially would easily wash out or become contaminated through exposure to water, dirt, and other elements. This lubrication failure led to premature wear on the bearings, a problem that caused equipment downtime. To combat this problem, maintenance personnel now use Dow Corning BR2-PLUS Multi-Purpose Extreme Pressure Grease on the various sweeper bearings. The specialty lubricant has eliminated all previous problems, in the process saving hours of maintenance time and helping to keep downtime to a minimum. Sweeper mechanics apply the lubricant daily using grease guns. The lubricant is suitable over a wide range of temperatures and exhibits good resistance to hot and cold water, while also inhibiting corrosion and providing superior lubrication.
