MICHIGAN LINES TO SERVE DEEP GAS FIELDS
Michigan companies have asked state authority to construct two pipelines to transport gas from deep discoveries in east central Michigan. Saginaw Bay Pipeline Company, an affiliate of Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, has proposed a $65 million, 125 mile, 10-20 in. pipeline which would terminate at existing gas processing plants near Kalkaska, Michigan. CMS Energy Corporation's CMS Gas Transmission Company has proposed to lay the 87.5 mile East Central Bay Wet Header Pipeline. CMS estimated that more than 430 bcf of gas can be produced from the region. The CMS 8 5/8 to 16 in. pipeline would extend from Ogemaw County's West Branch Township 52.5 miles south to Midland and east 35 miles to Akron Township, Tuscola County. It would transport wet gas except between Akron and Bay City.
