GIS NO GAMBLE FOR NEVADA COUNTY
A geographic information system is described which is being used by Washoe County, Nevada, to organize, analyze, and present their roadwork recommendations each year to the Department of Comprehensive Planning, so that it can prioritize improvements. A GIS allows the capture, edit and display of geographic data, as well as perform geographic analysis and create thematic maps. The system selection process and development are described. Washoe County needed a GIS that could automate the tasks requested by each department or agency within the county.
