THE SACRAMENTO LRT SYSTEM: SIMPLE AND SUCCESSFUL
The Sacramento light rail transit system called "RT" is reviewed. The success of the system which was built on existing rights of way where possible and uses only one track for both directions along two-thirds of its route is attributed to the non-nonsense, off-the-shelf design of cars, track, overhead wire, the 750-volt DC power system and fare collection. Plans are underway for expansion.
