BEARING CAPACITY OF BORED CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE PILES ON OIL SAND
This is a discussion of a paper of the above title by H.D. Sharma, M.C. Harris, J.D. Scott, and K.W. McAllister published in the Journal of Geotechnical Engineering Volume 112, No. 12. The first discussion notes that the paper has made a significant contribution in the area of oil sand foundation design, makes clarifying comments that will raise the value of the contribution of the paper, and presents and discusses additional data. The second discussion provides additional data related to the pile load test that were not referred to in the paper. Test pile concrete modulus testing is discussed, as well as sliding micrometer results. The discussions are followed by a closure by the authors.
