AVOIDING THE SNAKES
Trailer snaking is still an engineering puzzle. Practical experience has taught that trailers most sensitive to snaking are those with short towbars, especially in conjunction with short wheelbases. Snaking affects every size of vehicle. This articles discusses some possible things that could be done to inhibit it, such as microswitches wired to warnings to the driver that the limit on drawbar angle is close, or making the towing frame strong enough to withstand heavy sideways loads without bending and inserting the towing eye in the end so that it actually becomes the weakest point but can be quite quickly unbolted and replaced by a straight eye.
