THE TRUTH ABOUT GEOTEXTILES
In a survey of state and county highway departments, Better Roads' editors found that 53.8% of geotextile users buy both wovens and nonwovens, while 33.4% specify nonwovens exclusively and 12.8% use only wovens. Engineers in 37 states and about 200 counties completed the questionnaire. A total of 84.3% of survey respondents uses some type of geotextiles, averaging 633,737 sq yds each in the past year. A look at grab tensile strengths related to minimum grab tensile elongation percent specifications - as required by respondents - is particularly interesting. A total of 60.8% of survey respondents uses both specs.
