READER REVIEW OF SOFTWARE: VERSACAD: A GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO MAINFRAME-BASED PROGRAMS
The VersaCAD is discussed which is best suited to medium- to large-sized plans and drawings, and other medium-duty applications. It offers the design sophistication required for today's work. Most common applications such as plant engineering, general-purpose drafting, and facility layout are supported. VersaCAD comes with 2 add-on optional modules: (1) VersaCAD Architect, and (2) VersaData. The installation prodedure is batch-file driven and virtually foolproof. It is a menu-driven system. VersaCAD is easy to set up. It requires approximately 5 MB of hard-disk space and a minimum of 640 KB of RAM, with additional expanded/extended memory highly recommended. Further comments are made relating to the software, and it is noted that one of the major shortcomings is the organization of the manual which is not as user friendly as it could be.
