THE BEC SYSTEM AND THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
The computer-aided design system BEC for prefabricated concrete units has been developed to open new horizons to automation of industrial building. The responsibility of the chief engineer has been outlined in the BEC system as follows: contents of plans needed for element inquiries; and supply of accurate initial data for element design. The BEC system will provide a uniform frame for the development of such software that will help reach the goals set for ADP-aided planning, production control and data processing. Most of the BEC instructions for manual planning and design can be adopted into use immediately thus to prepare the ground for automated planning and production.
