VAPOR DISPERSION, FIRE CONTROL, AND FIRE EXTINGUISHMENT FOR LNG SPILLS
Reports on the American Gas Association sponsored series of tests to determine some of the characteristics of LNG, particularly as they are related to vapor dispersion and accidental fires following LNG spills on land. The following areas were studied: 1) Reduction in vapor concentartion using high expansion foam. 2) Extinguishment of LNG fires using dry chemical agents. 3) Control of LNG fires using high expansion foam. The tests were run using fire sizes from 5 ft in diameter to 30 ft by 40 ft, and LNG burning rates up to 1.5 in/min were studied.
