INVESTIGATION OF THE IMPACT OF THE INTRODUCTION OF LRT ON THE LIFE OF THE PEOPLE IN MANILA; A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
This report summarizes the results of a pre-opening survey on the impact of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) system on the people of Manila. A questionnaire was administered to a random sample of 1387 people in mid-1983; observational surveys, interviews, the Picture Opinion Test, and the Semantic Differential Technique were also used in the survey. The questionnaires covered household characteristics, personal characteristics (age, sex, occupation, income, and vehicle ownership), time perception, space perception, commuting behavior, LRT-related items. The psychological tests covered space recognition, attitudes toward jeepneys and the LRT, and transport modal images.
