COST CONSIDERATION IN GENERATION AND EVALUATION OF RURAL ROAD NETWORK
A large number of link options are possible to inter-connect a set of identified settlement nodes with a minimum number of road links. It is not possible to analyze and evaluate all the possible linkage patterns to decide the optimal one. The planner needs a methodology which may be used to generate and evaluate critical alternate linkage patterns, so that the optimal network may by recommended. The concept of total annual transportation cost comprising of construction, maintenance and operational cost has been used to generate and evaluate alternative networks. Concepts developed have been applied to the zone of Behat, which is one of the identified growth centers in the district of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
