APPLICATION OF VOICE TECHNOLOGY TO TRANSPORTATION OF DISABLED PERSONS
This study looks at voice technology as one of several related technologies encompassing computers, robotics, artificial intelligence and natural language processors that can be applied to the transportation problems of elderly and handicapped persons. Three distinct areas are examined: voice recognition, voice synthesis and voice compression. Individual speech techniques are reviewed, current applications for speech examined, specific applications developed for improving the mobility of the elderly and disabled, and directions offered for planning and implementing a program of research and development. The report contains comparison charts featuring over one hundred speech products from about fifty different vendors. (Author/TRRL)
