ACCESS PLAN REVIEW, CANADIAN PAVILLION, CANADA PLACE, EXPO 86

The report reviews the mode of travel for visitors arriving in greater Vancouver for expo 86 (originating modes) and specifically addresses the modes of access to the Canadian pavilion, located on the burrard inlet approximately one km North of the main site adjacent to false creek. The advanced light rapid transit (alrt) system linking the pavilion with the expo 86 main site also has been studied and strategies have been identified to accommodate the expected visitor movements, and resultant reservoir requirements. The study recommends that a secondary transportation connection be pursued between the pavilion and the distant West gate of the main site, and that a contingency plan be developed in the unlikely event that the alrt link fails to operate.
