COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR THE PRIMARY FLY-BY-WIRE CONTROL OF CIVIL TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT (EXPERIMENTAL SYSTEM). FINAL REPORT.

RECHNERSYSTEM EINER FLY-BY-WIRE-PRIMAERSTEUERUNG FUER ZIVILE TRANSPORTFLUGZEUGE (EXPERIMENTALSYSTEM). SCHLUSSBERICHT.

Within the framework of the programme to develop a computer system for the primary fly-by-wire control of civil transport aircraft, a fault tolerant computer system has been specified, designed, and an experimental prototype produced. The computer system (designated as FBWC-system/FBWCS) consists of four identical FBW-computers assembled from AVIONICS COMPUTER BUILDING BLOCKS. The FBWC-system is characterized by: multi-processor operation within an FBW-computer to guarantee the required real-time data throughput, fault tolerant behaviour defined by the software and implemented redundancy management of the concurrent operation of the four FBW-computers. For the proving of the FBWCS functions (signal-processing, redundancy management) an extensive test system has been designed and built. Its major features are: computer supported stimulation and analysis for real-time open-loop tests with dynamic data sets and computer supported hardware fault stimulation to test the redundancy management.
