ATTITUDES, BEHAVIOUR AND RESPONSES OF TRAVEL CARD HOLDERS IN LONDON: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY

The report presents findings from a qualitative survey designed to assess attitudes toward and patterns of use of travel cards, bus passes, and (to a more limited extent) capital cards within greater London. It discusses the basis for the purchase decision, life style effects, effects on car ownership decisions, modes of journey to work, use for nonworking trips, use by part-time employees, effects on public transport, benefits to passengers, perceived disadvantges, confusion over types of cards, and pricing of cards. Recommendations for further study are also made.
