THE INVOLVEMENT OF ALCOHOL IN ACCIDENTS IN VICTORIA: 1980-1985
The involvement of alcohol in road accidents in Victoria between 1980 and 1985 was examined. The way in which alcohol involvement was related to variables such as time of day, location, sex, age, and vehicle type was also examined. The accident data indicate that drivers involved in accidents that occur early in the morning; on Friday or Saturday; or in areas outside of Melbourne; or those drivers that are male or relatively young are more likely to be alcohol affected than are other accident involved drivers.
