INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF A STEAM-BYPASS SYSTEM ON CONTROL OF THE NMSR PLANT

Analog-simulation techniques determine the possibility of controlling the N.S. Savannah nuclear reactor plant by use of an automatic steam-bypass system coupled to the steam generators. Four classes of control were used on the simulated plant: uncontrolled power transients, control with the control-rod system, control with both the control-rod system and steam-bypass system, and control by use of the steam-bypass system alone. The simulated steam-bypass system operates well and, when used with the reactor control system, results in good plant control.
