TESTS ON THE CRABBED BARRIER
VERSUCHE MIT DER KREBSGANGBARRIERE
Experiments were carried out relevant to the expected discussion on the harmonisation of legal regulations on side impact protection of people inside cars in the USA and Europe. The effect of the movement of the vehicle hit at the side on the loads on the vehicle and those inside it and the American model, in which a stationary vehicle is hit by a barrier at an angle (quality of simulation of the transverse movement effects are discussed. The results from these two series of experiments are evaluated regarding the load on the vehicles (measurements of acceleration and deformation) and experimental dummies (measurement of acceleration on head, chest and pelvis), and are compared. There are great differences in the results for collision experiments with 2 moving vehicles compared with the combination of mobile deformable barrier with movement parameters.
