WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF LORRY DRIVERS - VIBRATIONS

LASTBILSFOERARES ARBETSMILJOE - VIBRATIONER

The study consists, besides of an account of methods for the evaluation of human exposure to whole-body vibrations, partly of a survey of vibration transmitting properties of lorries and driver seats, and partly of an evaluation of the working environment from the vibration point of view in different types of lorries. Measurements of vibrations on the seat cushion of the driver's seat cushion of the driver's seat are made in different types of lorries, loaded and non loaded with and without trailers. Results suggest that suspension systems with a small amount of friction damping produce a lower level of vibration than systems where the friction constitutes a greater part of the total damping of the system, loaded lorries are better from the vibration point of view than non loaded ones, the addition of a full trailer worsens the vibration environment of the lorry, the lorry with full trailer is better in this respect than the tractor and semi-trailer, a big lorry constitutes a better vibration environment than a small one and buses are better than lorries.
