NUMERICAL HULL VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF A FAR EAST CONTAINER SHIP
A finite element analysis is presented to determine the added mass matrix of an arbitrary three-dimensional structure vibrating in liquid. The corresponding computer program was coupled with the ASKA general purpose finite element program to obtain the stiffness-matrix of the elastic structure. Subsequently, an eigenvalue and response analysis may be performed with a package of subroutines for dynamic analysis. The procedure was applied to determine the lower natural frequencies and the symmetric and antisymmetric vibration modes of the Nedlloyd Far 9 East container ships. (Author)
