TECHNICAL TRAINING FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN ROAD TRANSPORT INDUSTRY

This paper describes the need for technical education in road transport in South Africa. Ideal training systems and levels of competence are discussed along with the present situation in education in the republic. A total overview of training is made at all levels. Recommendations are made with a view to establishing a certificate of competency in road transport and a more balanced approach to the total education picture.
