SAFE DRIVING INCENTIVES IN THE ROAD TRANSPORT INDUSTRY
The objective of any safe driving programme is to provide drivers with the incentive to work without incurring lost time through personal injury and without incurring damage to goods, equipment or property. It is the purpose of this paper to help management to understand the many benefits of an effective safe driving award programme by giving guidance on the establishment of a programme which will be clearly understood by company drivers and other personnel, and which will provide the incentive desired by the company and the recognition desired by employees. To this end, the types of award available and the rules and procedures governing them are discussed in detail. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 288720. (Author/TRRL)
