TESTING PRECAST REINFORCED CONCRETE SLABS FOR THEIR USE IN LEVEL CROSSINGS. PROCEEDINGS - SYMPOSIUM ON RESEARCH ON THE USE OF MODERN ACHIEVEMENTS IN YUGOSLAV CIVIL ENGINEERING IN THE FIELD OF MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES. VOLUMES 1, 2, 3 AND 4

PREIZISKAVE MONTAZNIH ARMIRANOBETONSKIH PLOSC ZA CESTNO-ZELEZNISKA KRIZANJA V NIVOJU

The paper presents laboratory tests on special precast reinforced concrete slabs and examines their use in level crossings in order to find a new solution for this problem in Yugoslavia. Two types of slab were tested: inner slabs which are placed between the rails, and outer ones which are placed between the rails and the outer concrete base. Six specimens of two different types of slab were tested, both statically and dynamically. A particular problem to be solved involved the highly shear-stressed support tabs next to the rails, where the positioning and design of the reinforcement was of special importance. (TRRL)
