IN SITU TESTING FOR EVALUATION OF LIQUEFACTION POTENTIAL AT AN INDUSTRIAL SITE. SYMPOSIUM ON RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN LABORATORY AND FIELD TESTS AND ANALYSIS OF GEOTECHNICAL PROBLEMS. ASIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BANGKOK, THAILAND, 6-9 DECEMBER 1983

This paper describes the results of in-situ tests performed to assess the liquefaction potential of a sand formation at a site for a proposed large industrial facility located in a seismically active region in east central China. The site is underlain by alluvial deposits down to a depth of up to 58m. The sand layers are found at a depth of approximately 10m below the ground surface. The in-situ test performed included standard penetration tests, cone penetration tests and cross hole shear wave velocity measurements. This paper discusses the results obtained. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 809912. (TRRL)
