THEORY OF NATURAL DEFORMATION
In this paper a theory of deformation is presented. Infinitesimal deformation is dealt with first. A new definition for shear not associated with a right angle is introduced. Finite deformation is dealt with later. The hencky definition for longitudinal strain is used. New concepts for shear strains are introduced. Triaxial tests, pure shear and simple shear are examined. The three dimensional problem is analyzed. Natural elasticity is defined and some elastic effects are discussed. (A)./TRRL/
