DATA BANK FOR RECYCLED BITUMINOUS ASPHALTS
Reuse or recycling of deteriorated asphalt pavement has emerged as a viable rehabilitation and maintenance alternative offering several advantages over the use of conventional virgin materials. The major benefits are lower costs, conservation of aggregates, binders and energy, and preservation of environment and existing highway geometrics. This paper documents the design (for the Federal Highway Administration) of a computerized information retrieval system for the analysis and prediction of performance of recycled asphalt pavements. Data were collected on over 300 recycled asphalt research projects for input to the database. The report includes a description of the data collection instruments, the types of data collected, the status of the data bank and the preliminary analysis of the data.
