NATIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR URBAN TRANSPORTATION ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Since a high percentage of the Canadian total petroleum energy consumption can be attributed to automobile transportation in urban areas, there is significant potential for reducing energy consumption through urban transportation energy management (TEM). This paper highlights the results of a study undertaken to assess the relative impacts of TEM measures across Canada and to provide an indication of how the suitability of TEM measures varies with urban size. Results are summarized and recommendations are made for future research and development. A more complete report of the study can be found in the publication: Canada.
