STRESS ANALYSIS FOR CRACKED REINFORCED CONCRETE SECTIONS UNDER SYMMETRIC BENDING IN THE SERVICEABILITY LIMIT STATE
A simple analysis for cracked, reinforced concrete sections under symmetric bending in the serviceability limit state is described. The method covers a large percentage of cases encountered in practice. For the problem under consideration, some textbooks suggest analysis based on estimates and iterations, or the use of charts based on given assumptions regarding the location of the reinforcement, with supplementary formulas for improving the accuracy when these assumptions are not satified. This paper suggests a simple, rigorous analysis that overcomes these complications. It covers reinforcement placed anywhere in the cross section.
