CORPORATE STRATEGIES AND THE DECLINE OF TRANSIT IN US CITIES
Demonstrates some of the links among economic development, social class formation, city growth and transportation. In particular it is shown that urban transportation development in the United States (US) in many ways has been under the strong influence or control (directly or indirectly) of profit-seeking corporations. Corporate control has affected public choices, contributed to transit problems and retarded the development of more effective public transit.
