SUPER COMPUTER FOR MID-SIZED FLEETS
The Urban Mass Transportation Administration (UMTA), chose the 95-bus Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District for its pilot project to show that a relatively inexpensive "supermicrocomputer" can automate many of the management operations of a small public transportation system. The system tracks revenues and ridership figures, processes payroll, enables management to generate and modify bus and driver schedules on a daily basis and fulfills auditors requests for comprehensive parts inventories.
