CUSTOMER SERVICE PAYS OFF
Bombardier created a customer service unit to handle its contract with the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA). To deliver and service the large number of cars required in a timely fashion required a communal effort between the railcar manufacturer and its major subcontractors. It shares a two-story brick building in Mount Vernon, NY with Westinghouse, New York Air Brake, and Safety Electric. Each firm is allowed to share in the decision-making process. The success of the New York venture has led to another contract with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).
