ASSESSMENT AND DESIGN OF MASONRY ARCH STRUCTURES USING A MICROCOMPUTER
Several papers are to be presented at this conference on the subject of masonry arch analysis. The technicalities of these analyses are not the subject of this paper. Rather, this will be an attempt to look at the desirable changes that are made possible by ease of analysis on a microcomputer. In this respect the masonry arch may be taken as a model for any structure where back analysis is required. The combination of inadequate information about indeterminate structures holds pitfalls for any engineer but we will attempt to show how these problems may be reduced. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 288957. (Author/TRRL)
