Large underground projects frequently develop into situations which run counter to the economic evaluations on which the project was based, construction costs greatly exceeding the contractual figure, and protracted construction times which delay the date for the structure to go into service. This article presents a method of partialization of the planning process and definition of the level of precision, in order to achieve an optimum project in terms of time and costs. (TRRL)
