RECENT TRENDS IN MARINE COATINGS
The high performance coatings most widely used for marine work are the inorganic zinc, epoxy, and vinyl coatings. While each has its limitations, all fit many areas and do an excellent job of corrosion control. Present day coating materials present problems such as compatibility, acceptance of one coat to another, sophisticated solvent balances, etc. These are some of the reasons one deals with coating systems rather than individual coats. Considerations related to technology of coating of underwater hull area, boot top area, freeboard area, topside areas and cargo tanks.
