THE VISIBILITY OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS - A LITERATURE SURVEY

TRAFIKSIGNALERS SYNBARHET - EN LITTERATUR STUDIE

The report contains a review of recent research concerning the visibility of traffic signals. The subject is treated under two main headings - the effect of ambient illumination and the effects of other factors, such as placement, size and colour of the signal. It is concluded that the amount of research on the visibility of traffic signals seems rather limited, but that the available data could be used for an improvement of present traffic signal practice./TRRL/
