ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT OF CHANGES IN TRANSIT SYSTEMS USING INTERVENTION ANALYSIS

Intervention analysis has been used to assess the effectiveness of a transit system change in Chattanooga (Tenn., USA). Goal of the change was to improve the effectiveness of the transit system. Four measures of effectiveness were used: total ridership, total operating revenues, ratio of total operating revenues to total revenue miles and the ratio of total passenger trips to total revenue miles. Intervention analysis showed that three of these measures had been improved by the transit system change.
