ASEA, AMTRAK WIN SEPTA AC ORDER
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority has awarded a $44 million contract for 26 ac cars for its 14-mile Philadelphia-Morristown line to an ASEA Traction/Amtrak consortium; delivery completion: end-1989. Each of the steel-bodied mass transit cars seats 64 passengers and can be operated singly or coupled to form train sets of up to 4 cars. The cars are rated at 4x145 kW, with a maximum speed of 70 mph.
