COMPUTERS AID NEW JERSEY FLEET MANAGEMENT
The New Jersey Department of Transportation uses a computerized system for fleet management. The system maintains the equipment inventory in some 200 equipment body codes, keeps records of equipment assignment and accountability, schedules preventive maintenance, and provides preprinted preventive maintenance job cards. It also records data that provide vehicle operating cost data used for replacement analysis. The system also has other features such as as inquiry feature, the ability to provide reports of weekly transaction data, etc. A mobile radio system allows workers in the field to check on work orders, etc.
