LOOKING AT LIABILITY. ARE YOU FACING A COURT TRIAL?
The increase of law suits involving governmental employees in the recent past has created the need for being prepared to handle legal situations. Suggestions are made that may aid in this: a system for reviewing accidents with a potential for litigation is desirable in any agency; facts and background information must be acquired; review records of the accident with personnel to ascertain if they are in agreement; meet with attorney and establish ground rules; assist attorney by suggesting questions and areas for avoidance; maintain equanimity in court testimony; review facts and written statements before court appearance; dont over volunteer information when questioned by opposing attorney; and learn from the process.
