VIA CELEBRATES SEVEN YEARS OF SERVICE
VIA Metropolitan Transit proudly welcomed APTA members to San Antonio, 1983's All-America city and the site for the 1985 Western Conference during the city's Fiesta celebration which also showcased one of VIA's busiest and most productive times. The many changes which have taken place during VIA's seven years to make it more attractive to potential riders are cited in this article. Some of these changes include: acquiring new buses, rubber-tired streetcars, marketing campaigns emphasizing low fares and the system's new image, publicity spots on local radio and television, a computerized route scheduling system, and an automatic vehicle monitoring system.
