STATE OF THE ART CONCERNING ROAD WEATHER INFORMATION SYSTEM IN SWEDEN. THIRD INTERNATIONAL ROAD WEATHER CONFERENCE, TAMPERE, FINLAND, 24TH FEBRUARY 1986

This conference presentation consists of a new video covering the present situation in Sweden concerning research, system in operation and plans for future road weather service. In winter 1985-86 there were about 240 field stations connected to eleven central units in operation. A test with videotex terminals has been very successful. An important task in research programme is to solve the problems of detecting the road condition and measuring the type and amount of rainfall. According to plans there will be at least 500 field stations in operation before the 1990's. (TRRL)
