COURTROOM COMMUNICATION AND JURY SELECTION. SUMMARY OF COURTROOM COMMUNICATION PRINCIPALS
The communication process is defined, the four levels in the learning process are identified, and 21 communication principles are discussed in detail. The first 6 principles relate to the impression formation process. Principles 7 through 12 deal with persuasive techniques. These principles teach basic precepts of persuasion which can be used to communicate with the juror's unconscious mind and persuade the juror on the subliminable level. The next 4 principles, deal with the establishment of credibility in the courtroom. The last five principles deal with small group decisions and the decision-making process. These last principles show how jurors make decisions both individually and as a group. This information is useful in the construction of the case theme, opening statement and final argument.
